Happy Wine Wednesday!
Well it’s that time of week again, and a day…
On February 24, six artisanal breweries and one small-batch distillery, decided to launch a self-guided tasting tour and passport rewards program: The East Village Brewery & Distillery Passport.
Taking part in the brewery and distillery passport is the area’s oldest brewery, Storm Brewing, also included in the mix is Parallel 49 Brewing, Powell Street Craft Brewery, Doan’s Craft Brewing Co., Callister Brewing Co., Bomber Brewing, and last but not least Odd Society Spirits.
Beer enthusiasts are able to pick up a passport and map at any of the participating breweries and distilleries to get their tasting journey underway. The main objective and priority of this tour is for people to taste a variety of award-winning micro-brews and craft-spirits, while enjoying and discovering some local eaters in East Van.
Participants are encouraged to approach the tour at their own pace, either checking-in at all seven stops in one day or adopting a more leisurely attitude visiting each destination over time (really there is no rush). Once all seven stamps have been collected, the participants will be awarded with an East Village branded growler to add to their collection.
The East Village Passport was created in partnership with The Hastings North Business Improvement Association to promote the area as a destination for craft beer and spirit lovers. The East Village is located within two historic neighborhoods that are both in the heart of East Vancouver: Hastings Sunrise and Grandview-Woodland. This area which was formerly known as Cedar Cove, has a long standing history as being on of the first and only area’s in the 1800’s to have a brewery – Columbia Brewery. So it is no surprise why this hub for craft breweries and distilleries plays a perfect spot to launch this passport rewards program.
